WTMJ School Closures

Objective

With the severe weather Milwaukee sees during winter months, TMJ4 and 620 WTMJ wanted to offer consumers the opportunity to receive school closure alerts before anyone else.

Solution

Through its relationship with Hipcricket, the stations encouraged consumers to go online to sign up for location-specific alerts for district/school information. Opt-ins received alerts via a text message.

Results

TMJ4 and 620 WTMJ opted-in 10,447 consumers through two winter seasons.
